We are helping our community members who are struggling and destigmatizing mental health discussions.
Mental health is often a taboo subject and suicide is a difficult conversation. Suicide has touched my family and many of our friends/team’s families too. But I believe it’s time for the stigma and judgment to be set aside. Because mental health is “invisible” and we learn to avoid the pain of discussing it, we often don’t see that people are struggling and we lose too many people needlessly.
In a time of social media showing off “perfect digital lives” coupled with the isolation of the pandemic, we have to remind one another that it’s okay not to be okay; and then be there for each other. For all of us, taking care of our own mental health can be complicated; helping someone else navigate their own challenges is even trickier – but remember there is help!
One of the charities we’ve chosen to donate to this year is Centerstone. They have offices in several states, but we chose them for their work locally. They also have help for military veterans in crisis.
Sadly, nationwide, there are an average of 132 suicides each day. That’s just too many precious lives lost.
We have been so blessed this year – my team is just driven to change lives. I’m grateful that thanks to their hard work, we can donate to help people in our community who are struggling. I encourage you to support programs in your community too.
Individually we can each do a little; but together, we move mountains.
